DEFINING STATEMENT:
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box
for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O
Box 2754 , zip 34973.
BAND STAND WORK DAY: Under the
leadership of J D Mixon, the band stand received a complete renovation,
including: a new metal roof, handicap ramp, painting, new lighting, and
landscaping. Our partners in this project were the police union (FOP) and the
fire fighters union. A huge thank you to all the local businesses and
contractors who donated to the project and to J D for coordinating all the work
and obtaining all the donations. A dedication program is planned for Oct 8, that
will include a concert by the high school band. Mark you calandars and watch for
more information soon.
RADIO AUCTION: The meeting on Sept
3, was devoted to discussing the upcoming Radio Auction. Brad Stark and Jenny
Pung have some innovative ideas and are encouraging the members to work in teams
to solicit donations. Many items will be grouped in "packages" to provide better
value (ie a "golf package" that may include green fees, golf balls, tees, golf
towel, and lunch). The auction will be on Dec 12 on WOKC and ad will run in the
Dec 9th issue of the Pennysaver. Please have all donations turned in by the
first week in Dec so they can be included.
DISTRICT CONVENTION: J D Mixon
attended the annual
Florida Kiwanis District Convention held Aug 27-30 in Orlando as our official
delegate. According to J D it was an interesting and educational event.
CLUB COMMITTEES: Pres Jim Vensel, VP
Greg Thogersen and J D Mixon have complied a list of club committees we need to
effectively complete our projects. See Jim or Greg to volunteer. We would like
every member to serve on at least one committee.

was postponed until Sept 10. See next month's newsletter for board actions.
INSTALLATION BANQUET: The
Installation Banquet for the 2009-2010 officers will be Sept 24, at the American

selected a "safari" theme. Entertainment will be provided and the meal will be
catered by Cowboys Restaurant.
