DEFINING STATEMENT:
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box
for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O
Box 2754 , zip 34973.
GOVERNOR'S VISIT: We have been
selected to host the Governor's Visit to Division 16. Gov Dave Liddell's visit will also be the
installation banquet for our club officers and other clubs in Division 16. It will be held on
Oct 3, at the American Legion with Golden Corral catering. Maureen
Burroughs will coordinate this event and the theme will be Western. Polish up
those boots and dust off the cowboy hat and come support your new officers.
BABY SHOWER: The Board voted to hold
a baby shower for the Pregnancy Center. We held one several years ago and it was
very helpful to the Center and a lot of fun for the Club. The "shower" will be
held on Oct 16. Items needed are: diapers, wipes, strollers, baby blankets,
sleepers, baby powder, lotion, shampoo, etc, and any other baby items. Robbie
Sumner is heading up this project.
BLOOD DRIVES: Two important blood
drives were announced by Raye Duesinger our guest speaker on Sept 4. The first
will be for Dr Fred Brown on Sept 13&14. Dr Brown is a long time pediatrician in
our community and is having some health issues. The second is the "Okeechobee
Blood Roundup" on Nov 14&15. This is the third year for the Roundup and the goal
this year is 450 units. Please sign up for the Kiwanis team, as cash prizes will
be awarded to the organization with the most donors.
CONGRATULATIONS: Bennett Yeilding
was named the Reading Program Case Manager for Big Brothers/Big Sisters
