DEFINING STATEMENT:
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box
for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O
Box 2754 , zip 34973.
RADIO AUCTION: CANCELLED! Due to a
lack of donated items, we have had to cancel our annual Radio Auction. Those
items that were donated will be auctioned at the club on Thurs, Dec 11th & 18th,
with a silent auction. The Miami Dolphin tickets donated by Red Larson, will be
sold to the public by a silent auction at Riverside Bank the week of Dec 8.
HOLIDAY MEETING SCHEDULE: The Dec 25
and Jan 1 meeting have been cancelled. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
YMCA: The Board has discussed
supporting the formation of a YMCA here in Okeechobee. A steering committee has
been formed in the community and we plan to invite a speaker to our club and
will consider this as a new project. Watch for more details soon!
FARM CITY WEEK: Our annual Farm-City
Week BBQ held on Nov 20 at the KOA was a big success with over 400 in attendance.
The guest speaker was Bud Adams from Ft pierce and he showed several slides with
some of his nature photography. The 4H and FFA presented many interesting
displays. Congratulations to Clayton on another wonderful event and thanks for
the 12 years chairing the event (Jeff Sumner will assume chair next year).
SANTA IN THE PARK: Head Santa Marcos
has scheduled the dates for Santa to visit Okeechobee. The dates are Dec 13
(after parade), Dec 17-20 & 22-23 from 6-8 PM. Please plan to be an "Elf" on one
of these dates.
EYDC CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Christmas
Party for the Eckerd Intensive Half Way House will be on Dec 9. This is a Tues
rather than a Thurs, so your baked goods will need to be dropped off at
Dowling's work. Plan to attend with us and you will be blessed by the attitude
of the boys you meet. Meet at Bank of America at 6:30 PM to attend.
