RANCH SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Our school supply drive for RLCR was the best ever. A member challenged the Club by matching the Club's donation up to $500. We met the challenge and, in addition to three large boxes of supplies, we presented Real Life Executive Director, Mark Mayers, with $1,085. Great job Club! GOVERNOR'S VISIT: We have been selected to host the Governor's Visit to Division 16. Gov Dave Liddell's visit will also be the installation banquet for our club officers and other clubs in Division 16. It will be held on Oct 3, at the American Legion with Golden Corral catering. Maureen Burroughs will coordinate this event and the theme will be Western. More details soon. BABY SHOWER: The Board voted to
hold a baby shower for the Pregnancy Center. We held one several years ago and it was very helpful to the Center and a lot of fun for the Club. Look for more details soon. KIWANIS EDUCATION: The organization of Kiwanis is: Kiwanis International, District and Division and local Club. We are in the Florida District and Division 16. The chief elected officer of each level is: International President, District Governor, Division Lt-Governor and local club President. The Kiwanis motto is: "Serving the Children of the World" and the major service project is " Young Children: Priority One". See the Six Objects of Kiwanis under the History tab. CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Marcos and Melissa Montes De Oca (and
Grandpa Chuck) on the birth of their daughter, Kathryn. Although she had a heart problem that required surgery, she is now home and doing well. Congratulations to Devin Maxwell on being elected as Chairman of the City Planning and Zoning Board and to Kodi Stephen (Noel's son) and being the 2008 Jr Champion at Okeechobee Golf and Country Club. RECOVERING: Bruce Simpson had surgery on Jul 2 to re-install his knee and continues to have issues. Gene O'Neill is still recovering and is very weak. Bob Owens (Kelly's husband) will be undergoing cancer surgery soon. Best wishes to all for a full and speedy recovery! IMPORTANT DATES (also see Events): Aug
