REAL LIFE CHILDREN'S RANCH SCHOOL
SUPPLY DRIVE: Our annual school supply drive for RLCR was our best ever! Several
boxes full of supplies as well as over $500 was donated. The Club received a
very nice thank you note and picture from RLCR. Thanks to all the members
who participated.
INTERCLUB: Frank Irby, Paul
Mitchell, Monica Jones, and Dowling Watford participated in an interclub meeting
with the Ft Pierce Sunrise Club on Aug 16. Dowling Watford presented a short
program on our Club's events and a brief Okeechobee history. Lt Gov Cindy Miller
was also in attendance and was presented some "awards" by our club,
including a Kiwanis bank and a donation of .39 (it was $50.00, but we had to
purchase gas for the trip over). This was Monica's previous club and they wanted
her back, but would not trade us enough members in return.
NEW MEMBER: Linda Woloski is our
newest member. Linda is employed at Mid Fla Federal Credit Union and is very
active in Main Street and Okeechobee Battlefield Friends. Welcome Linda!
RADIO AUCTION: Our annual Radio
Auction is scheduled for Dec 8 on WOKC. Please contact businesses to get
donations to auction. Remember, do not pick up the item, the winning bidder gets
a certificate to take to the merchant to pick the item up there. The merchant
gets the benefit of having the winner come into his store. This is one of our
major fundraisers. so please get as many donations as possible.
AWARDS: On her last official visit
to our club, Lt Gov Cindy Miller was presented some wonderful "gifts" for her
hard work during the past year. In addition to several Okeechobee items, and a
recipe for baked possum, she was presented with a key to Marriott Resort (she
just has to find the room it fits). Thanks Lt Gov Cindy for all your time
and efforts!
