DEFINING STATEMENT:
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box
for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O
Box 2754 , zip 34973.
RADIO AUCTION: Our annual Radio
Auction is scheduled for Dec 8 at Riverside Bank on WOKC. We will need
help answering phones, posting bids, calling winners, etc. Please try to work at
least a few hours of the auction. Thanks to Jim Vensel for all his time and hard
working on the auction.
SANTA IN THE PARK: Head Santa Marcos
has Santa in the Park all set and work schedule has been sent by email. Please
be sure to work your assigned date. A special thanks to Darrell Enfinger, Marcos
Montes De Oca and Jack Wolff for decorating bandstand, Greg Thogersen for the
coloring books, and Okeechobee McDonald's for the cheeseburger coupons. See

EYDC CHRISTMAS PARTY: We are
scheduled for our EYDC Christmas Party on Dec 13. This year we will have the
party at EIHH (Eckerd Intensive Halfway House). Please bring cookies, brownies,
cakes, etc to share with the young men. If you would like to attend, meet at
Bank of America at 5:30 on Thurs, Dec 13.
FARM-CITY BBQ: Our annual Farm-City
BBQ was held on Nov 15, at KOA and was a huge success. The 4H and FFA groups had
many very informative displays as well as several local ag related businesses. Rep Tim Mahoney
was in Washington and could not attend, so Ann Decker with IRCC was the guest
speaker. As always, Clayton Williams did and outsatning job coordinating the
event.
CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to
Monica Jones Young on her recent marriage. Best wishes!
IN THE NEWS: An article on the front
page of the Okeechobee News featured Paul Mitchell and his former Little
Brother, Eric Karas. Paul introduced his former Little at the Big Brothers Big
Sister holiday celebration at Beef O'Brady's. Eric and his family came from
Michigan to visit Paul and Deanna and attended the event to support Big Brothers
Big Sisters and show an example of the success of the program.
SYMPATHY: Our sincere sympathy to
Maureen Burroughs on the death of her Brother-in -Law. Our thoughts and prayers
are with the family.
RECOVERING:
Gene O'Neill continues to recover from a problem related to his cancer; Jenny
Pung is recovering from surgery; and Delbert Cherry is hospitalized with a heart
problem. Please keep these members
in your thoughts and prayers.
CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY: We will have
our Club gift exchange on Dec 20. Please bring a wrapped gag type gift for our
Chinese Gift Exchange.
DIVISION 16 GOALS: Lt Gov Gary Hawken has set several goals for the Division for 2008. The goals include: plus
5 members for each club, 2 new clubs for the Division, create a Division website
and newsletter, a Young Children Priority One project for each club, Foundation
donations from each club, and all dues and reports made on time.
