DEFINING STATEMENT: Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O Box 2754 ,  zip 34973.

CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK: A donation of $500 was presented to Denise Huggins, Coordinator, Children's Miracle Network for the support of Shands Children's Hospital at the University of Florida.  These funds are used to purchase equipment, fund research, produce educational materials, and provide diversionary activities for children at Shands. (see photo)

SCHOLARSHIP: The Board of Directors voted to change the way our scholarship is presented beginning with this year's scholarship presentation. We will now give  four $1,000 scholarships (instead of one scholarship of $1,000 for four years). Preference on one of the four awards will be for a Key Club member.

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING: Our Souper Bowl of Caring event was held on Feb 1 and was a lot of fun as well as helping out a very worthy cause. Members wore their favorite team shirt or cap and participated in a miniature football throwing contest (not won by Dowling, who could not even hit the board!).  Joyce Smith, Director of the Okeechobee Presbyterian Food Pantry accepted the donation of approximately 250 pounds of food goods and $200. The Pantry assisted over 1400 families last year. (see photo)
