2006
PAST ISSUES:
Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the
Newsletter page.
SANTA IN THE PARK: Santa (aka Ray
Worley) reports that this year's Santa in the Park was a huge success with the
most pictures we've taken in several years. Santa thanks everyone who
volunteered to help, the Key Club and his "apprentice" Santa,
Marcos.
RADIO AUCTION: Our annual fund
raising Radio Auction was very successful with approximately $2,600 raised. A special thanks to
WOKC, Billy Dean (DJ), Suntrust Bank and Jim Vensel for chairing the event.
EYDC CHRISTMAS PARTY: The annual
Christmas party at Eckerd Youth Development Center was held on Dec 15 for
Jefferson Cottage. Rev Larry Kilgore presented both a humorous and spiritual
program and the clients were presented gifts of a $3.00 certificate to the EYDC
Canteen and a stuffed "Beanie Baby" by Santa Claus. The young
men really enjoyed all the "goodies" furnished by our members (not a
crumb was left) and were very appreciative of the party.
CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR MY AUNT'S
HOUSE: We provided Christmas presents for four foster children thru My Aunt's
House as well as several that were provided by individual members. Thanks to
Robbie Sumner, Kelly Owens, Bruce Simpson, Larry Kilgore, Dowling Watford, and
Lonnie Kirsch for their donations.
NEW MEMBER INITIATION FEE: Because
of an increase in the fees charged by Kiwanis International and the FL District,
the new member initiation fee has been increased to $75.00. The Board voted to
no longer require the payment of a quarter's dues in addition to this increased
fee.
EASTER PANCAKE BREAKFAST:
Our annual Easter Pancake Breakfast will again be chaired by Greg Thorgerson and
will be held on Apr 16. Since Teen Town was damaged by the hurricanes and
can not be used, an alternate location is being investigated. Possible locations
include the Freshman Campus cafeteria, KOA, or setting up a tent in the Park.
Watch for further details soon.
KIWANIS INFORMATION: Kiwanis

woman!); First Gentleman: David Batelaan; Governor-Elect: H.P. Yorston, West
