SUMMER CAMP: On a request from Jim
Vensel, the Board voted to pay $1,800 to provide transportation for
approximately 25 young people to attend a summer camp at Camp Blanding. The camp
is operated by the National Guard and targets at risk teens. One of the
participants will attend our July 13 meeting to talk about his experiences.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Officers for
the new Kiwanis year beginning Oct 1, are: Frank Irby-Pres; Jim Vensel-VP; Wendy Woodman-Sec;
Jeff Sumner-Treas; Marcos Montes De Oca-Past Pres; and Bennett Yeilding and Paul
Mitchell-Directors. Thanks to all for their willingness to serve.
REAL LIFE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: We
will again sponsor a school supply drive for Real Life Children's Ranch.
Supplies needed include: Jans Sport or East Bay book bags, pens and pencils,
spiral notebooks, 1" & 1/2" 3 ring binders, Markers, pocket folders, school
glue, wide ruled paper, TI-34 calculators, composition books, small calculators,
erasable pens, and, of course, CASH. The supplies will be presented to
RLCR on Aug 3.
INSTALLATION BANQUET: Our club has
been given the honor to have in-coming Kiwanis Governor Phil Yorston perform our
officer installation. Several other clubs in Division 16 will join with us for
this important event on Sept 29 at KOA. More details soon and invitations will
be mailed. Be sure to mark your calendar!
KIWANIS HONORS: Richard Kersey was
presented a gift certificate to Los Cocos Restaurant from the Club for his
assistance in cooking for our Pancake Breakfast. Richard cooked the sausage and
pancakes at our "satellite" breakfast at the Methodist Church.
CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to
Jenny Stewart on her marriage to Carey Pung on Jun 16. Also to Sean Daley on his
marriage on Jun 17.
