FEBRUARY
2006
PAST ISSUES:
Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the
Newsletter page.
NEW MEMBER INITIATION FEE: Because
of an increase in the fees charged by Kiwanis International and the FL District,
the new member initiation fee has been increased to $75.00. The Board voted to
no longer require the payment of a quarter's dues in addition to this increased
fee.
EASTER PANCAKE BREAKFAST:
Our annual Easter Pancake Breakfast will again be chaired by Greg Thorgerson and
will be held on Apr 16. Since Teen Town was damaged by the hurricanes and
can not be used, an alternate location has been chosen. The Freshman Campus
cafeteria will be the location. The Board also approved an increase in the
ticket price and ads will be sold on the placemats to generate additional
income. Tickets will be distributed soon, so get ready to SELL, SELL, SELL!
PROGRAMS: Please contact Jay Zeller
with any program ideas you may have. Many times we have program dates that need
to be filled and we are fortunate to have such interesting and high quality
programs each week. I'm sure you realize how difficult it is to think of
different programs every week, so let's all help out.
OSCEOLA BUILDERS CLUB: The Builders
Club at Osceola Middle School has been very active this year. Officers were
elected in Nov, Santa Grams were sold in Dec as a fund raiser ($300.00 was
raised) and a Christmas tree was decorated for the Hospice Festival of Trees.
The Club helped the office staff by putting 2 cent stamps on envelops and took a
field trip to Arnold's Wildlife. Future projects will include working with the
Student Council to plant a tree for Earth Day in Apr and recognizing the
teachers in May for Teacher Appreciation Week. The faculty advisor for the
Builders Club is Michelle Hendrix Branham.
GOOD THOUGHT: "A bulldog can
whip a skunk, but is it worth the fight".
CONGRATULATIONS: Our
congratulations to Frank Irby on his appointment by Gov Bush to serve on a state
committee for the elderly. Another fine example of our members' commitment to
serve.
CONDOLENCES: Our sincere sympathy to
Mrs. Phyllis Koff (Norman's wife) at the loss of her father. Our thoughts and
prayers are with you!
