PAST ISSUES:
Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the
Newsletter page.
DEFINING STATEMENT:
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
NEW ADDRESS: We now have a P O Box
for our address to assure we receive all correspondence. The new address is: P O
Box 2754 , zip 34973.
FARM-CITY BBQ: Our annual Farm-City
BBQ was another great event this year, with a good crowd in attendance, great
displays by the 4-H & FFA members, and a wonderful address by Judge Hendry on
the history of agriculture in Okeechobee. Thanks to Clayton Williams for heading
up the Farm-City Committee.
RADIO AUCTION: Our annual Radio
Auction will be held on Sat, Dec 9. As this is one of our major fundraisers,
please plan on attending to help work the auction. The Auction begins at 1:00 Pm
on Sat at Suntrust Bank.
SANTA IN THE PARK: December is an
extremely busy month for us and Santa in the Park is another of our ongoing
projects. Santa was begun by Paul Buxton so all children would have an
opportunity to see Santa during the Christmas season since at that time there
were no other Santas in Okeechobee. Please plan to help on one of our dates (see
events for schedule).
EYDC CHRISTMAS PARTY: The EYDC
Christmas party is another one of our annual events during the Christmas season.
The party is scheduled for Dec 14. We will meet in the Bank of America parking
lot at 6:30 PM to car pool to EYDC. Please try to attend!
GIFT EXCHANGE: As a Christmas
program for our club on Dec 21, each member is asked to bring a gag gift ($5.00
limit) to exchange with each other. Come join in the fun!
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING: The Board
agreed to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring program featured by a recent
speaker. The program is supported by several NFL teams with the goal of fighting
hunger. All donations stay within our community. Watch for more details soon.
CONGRATULATIONS: Judge Bill Hendry
was honored as 2006 Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Boy Scouts at a
lunch on Nov 14. Certainly a well deserved award! Congratulations Judge Hendry!
CONDOLENCES: Our sincere sympathy to
Ray Worley on the death of his father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
