PAST ISSUES:
Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the
Newsletter page.
COMMITTEES: Pres-Elect Frank Irby
addressed the club with his vision for the Club for the coming year. He would
like to re-activate the standing committees and is seeking volunteers to fill
all slots. The Kiwanis committees are: Club Administration, Finance and Fund
Raising, Membership Growth and Education, Public Relations, Community Services,
Sponsored Youth, and Human and Spiritual Values. Please contact Frank to
volunteer to serve on the committee that best fits your talents.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Officers for
the new Kiwanis year beginning Oct 1, are: Frank Irby-Pres; Jim Vensel-VP; Wendy Woodman-Sec;
Jeff Sumner-Treas; Marcos Montes De Oca-Past Pres; and Bennett Yeilding and Paul
Mitchell-Directors. Thanks to all for their willingness to serve.
REAL LIFE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Our
annual school supply drive for Real Life Children's Ranch was again very
successful with two large boxes of supplies and over $300 presented to RLCR on Aug 3.
Thanks to all our members for their wonderful participation in this very
worthwhile event. Scott Fraser of Real Life was also our guest speaker on Aug 3
and was very appreciative of the Club's support. He also updated the Club on
events at RLCR.
INSTALLATION BANQUET: Our club has
been given the honor to have in-coming Kiwanis Governor Phil Yorston perform our
officer installation. Several other clubs in Division 16 will join with us for
this important event on Sept 29 at KOA. The theme will be a western one and
western attire or business casual will be appropriate. More details will be in
next month's newsletter.
FLORIDA KIWANIAN: Our Club was
featured in an article in the Aug/Sept issue of the "Florida Kiwanian" magazine
for our support of the Okeechobee Ministerial Association's Day of Prayer. A
picture of Dowling presenting one of our sack lunches to City Councilman Lowry
Markham was included.
