OCT, 2004 PAST ISSUES: Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the Newsletter page. INSTALLATION BANQUET: The Installation Banquet has been scheduled for Oct 21 at KOA. Social hour will begin at 6:00 and dinner will be at 7:00. The theme will be a "hurricane party" with the social hour and music poolside, so wear your best "Hawaii" style outfit (men, please no grass skirts!). VILLAGE SQUARE: The Village Square received major roof damage during Hurricane Jeanne, so we are having to rotate our meeting places. Please contact one of the officers for current meeting location. We hope to be back "home" at the Village Square in several weeks. GOLF TOURNAMENT: Due to the storms and damage at the Country Club, our annual Golf Tournament has been postponed. A new date will be set later. FARM-CITY BBQ: Our annual Farm-City BBQ is scheduled for Nov 18 at KOA. Clayton Williams is our chairman for this event and it is always a very nice affair. Plan to attend and bring a guest. RED CROSS SHELTER PARTY: Our club sponsored a party at the Red Cross Shelter for all the kids still staying there on Thurs, Oct 7. We served cupcakes, ice cream and cookies, and CJ the clown gave all the kids balloons and stuffed animals. A special thanks to: Barney Salzberg for the co-ordination, Ray Worley and Cheri Watford for their assistance, First United Methodist Church for the stuffed animals, Okeechobee Motor Co for the helium and balloons, and CJ the clown (AKA June Shockley) for really bringing some joy into the children's lives that have been so disrupted. (see pictures on Gallery) l CONDOLENCES: Our sincere condolences to Brad Stark on the death of his father. RECOVERING: Bob Thompson continues to recover from his 3rd knee surgery and is having rehab. Bobi O'Neill continues to struggle with her recovery. Gene reports that Bobi is to be transferred back to Okeechobee and should arrive any day. Neil Gunsalus (aka Pastor Wonderful) broke his shoulder. Best wishes to all for a speedy and complete recovery! Kermit and Margaret Nichols and Pete and Rose Mary Knoll are recovering at home. Give them a call and wish them well. IMPORTANT DATES: (also see Events on web site) Oct 21: Installation Banquet (KOA) Nov 4: Board Meeting (after regular meeting) |
