PAST ISSUES: Past issues are available by clicking on Archives at the bottom of the Newsletter page.

DEFINING STATEMENT: Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

RADIO AUCTION: Jenny and Brad continue to work on the Radio Auction and encourage all the members to solicit donations. Remember that we are also looking for items that can be "packaged" (ie golf package). Get your items to Jenny or Brad as soon as possible. The auction will be held on Dec 12,on WOKC.

BANDSTAND DEDICATION: The dedication for the newly renovated bandstand has been postponed from the original Oct 8, date due to a conflict with the Farm Bureau CARES ceremony at the Agri-civic center scheduled for that date. A new date will be announced soon.

INSTALLATION BANQUET: The Installation Banquet for the 2009-2010 officers was held Sept 24, at the American Legion Hall. Maureen Burroughs chaired the banquet once again and selected a "safari" theme. Several members "dressed" for the big hunt and everyone agreed that Billie Jean Reynolds had the best outfit (she even had her hunting rifle). Steve Cates was a close second with his cargo shorts (what legs!) and hiking boots. Certificates were presented by Pres Jim Vensel to those members who chaired an event or did outstanding service for the club. Darrell Enfinger was presented a plaque from the FL  Foundation for his many years of quiet service to the club and J D Mixon was awarded the Kiwanian of the Year award. The 2009-2010 officers and directors were installed by Division 16 Lt Gov Mike Farley (see list of officers on the Officers tab).

IN THE NEWS: Linda Syfrett (Chuck's wife) was featured in the September Farm Bureau magazine, "In the Field", in the  "Farmer's Wife" section. Also in the magazine were two pictures of Jim McCoin at the Day of the Cowboy with Sen Bill Nelson and Miss Okeechobee Alex Ming. In the Fall issue of "Okeechobee the Magazine", Toni Doyle was the Okeechobee Shopper and pictured as Country Showdown judge, Michelle Harper had a Wagon Wheel Horse Farm article on her Summer camp, Kelly Owens was pictured with the School Board for the "A" school rating and Mary Chesley was pictured at the Hampton Inn opening. Maureen Burroughs and Toni Doyle were pictured with Secretary of State Kurt Browning in a recent "Okeechobee News" article on the Okeechobee Main Street awards during the Main Street Annual Conference.

NEW MEMBERS: Jim McCoin of Cowboys and Skip Jacks restaurants and Michelle Harper of Wagon Wheel Horse Farms have been approved as new members. Welcome!

Our prayers and sincere best wishes for a complete recovery!
