Items can still be added, so call Jenny or Brad with any updates.

BANDSTAND DEDICATION: The dedication for the newly renovated bandstand was held on Nov 19. Judge Bill Hendry  presented a very interesting history of the bandstand, donors were recognized, and the Okeechobee High School Jazz Band gave a wonderful performance. Thanks to J D Mixon for putting the evening together and Pres Jim for the remarks.

FARM-CITY WEEK BBQ: Our annual Farm-City week BBQ on Nov 19, was another great event with a delicious lunch, informative displays by the FFA and 4H members, and speaker Pat Miller. Recognition plaques were presented to Pat Miller for his 25 years of service to the Extension Service and to Clayton Williams for his 12 years of chairing the Farm-City BBQ. Jeff Sumner has taken over the chairmanship and did a fantastic job!

G4S CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Christmas Party for G4S Halfway House (former EYDC) will be held on Tues, Dec 8. Our Club will once again present the young men with a gift bag with toiletries and have cakes and other "goodies".  A spiritual program will be presented by Rev Jim Dawson. If you would like to attend, meet at the Bank of America parking lot at 6:30 PM on Dec 8.

SANTA-IN-THE-PARK: Head Santa Marcos has set the dates for Santa in the park. Santa will be in his sleigh at the bandstand on Dec 12, after the parade, and Dec 15-19 and 21-23. Plan to sign up for a night to be an elf.

SALVATION ARMY KETTLE CAMPAIGN: The Board agreed to participate in the Salvation Army Kettle campaign by manning the kettle as Bell Ringers for one day at Walmart.  Our day will be Wednesday, Dec 9 from 9 AM to 8 PM. We had such a great response from the membership, that we may add a second day.

DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING: Lt-Gov Mike Farley's first Division Council Meeting will be held on Dec 12, at IRSC in Ft Pierce. If you can attend, please let Pres Jim Vensel know so we can be represented.

NEW MEMBER: Philip Buxton of Buxton Funeral Home is our newest member. Philip is member Paul Buxton's son, so a second-generation Kiwanian. Welcome Philip!

IN THE NEWS:  Jerry O'Bannon and Darrell Enfinger were pictured in the Okeechobee News on the Seacoast Bank golf team for United Way, and Darrell also had picture for 35 year  service recognition with the County. Corey Dehays was featured in an Okeechobee News article for her promotion to Senior Accountant with Wicks, Brown, Williams & Co and for her profile in the Nov/Dec issue of Florida CPA Today.  Kelly Owens was re-elected chairperson of the School Board. Congratulations!

CONDOLENCES: Our sincere sympathy to Steve Cates on the passing of his wife, Dee Dee. Out thoughts and prayers are with you!

WORDS OF WISDOM: If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably a wise investment. Never miss a good chance to shut up. If at first you don't succeed .....do it the way your wife told you.
